If LoTT is accurate on this board, then with 17 total trumps (instead of 16, as here), 4 is only right if total tricks are divided 10-7, 12-5 or 13-4 in our favour. So P is likely best even then. Also, the 3433 shape and the club holding tend to bring the trick total down, so P is obvious.

it's always difficult when we can see both hands, but it does seem like an automatic pass - we have no guarantee whatsoever of a heart fit and we have AJ8 in trumps!!
"definitely that's what I like to play when I'm playing standard - I want to be able to bid diamonds because bidding good suits is important in bridge" - Meckstroth's opinion on weak 2 diamond

Yes, opponents are pushing us around. Pass and this is a opening lead problem.

So much for LoTT.lol We can see that there are only 15 total trumps. Also opponents have bid to the 4 level with only 8 trumps while missing AKJ of trumps.

You shouldn't have posted the west hand IMO, it will bias the responses. Most often the opponents do not have 8 trumps and 10 HCP to bid to 4C. If you had posted the west hand as KQxx QJxxx Axxx -- I'm sure you'd get different responses. That is certainly a much more common hand type than a balanced 19 count on this auction when we have the east hand.

Yeah, not sure why I did that

What's your call, though? (and what opposite KQxx QJxxx Axxx - ? :P)

idk tbh, I'd probably pass but might depend on my opps. Vs little old ladies I would bet that it's right to bid. Vs crazy juniors I'd be happy to pass :)
